Born in Tottenham, London, in 1904, Nora Mylrea was the daughter of Philip William Mylrea, an organ builder’s foreman. Educated privately, she married N.C. Easey, and had one daughter. She was employed as an outside fashion representative for Portsmouth Newspapers Ltd. from 1927 through 1931, and lived in Southsea. The author of a number of novels for young readers, she is primarily remembered as a girls’ school story writer.
In this novel, despite Lorrie’s contentment at home, a friend pays for her to attend the exclusive Bassington school. Lorrie is always in hot water at her new school, where she has been sent. In fact, her greatest nemesis is Prunella Forsythe, the niece of her benefactress.
